Comments about 15 Amp 13 in. Bench Planer with 3-Blade Cutterhead:

I bought this to resurface some salvaged redwood 2x6 decking and general job site use.
I was dropped off at my house in a box that looked like it had been dropped off the truck and drug all the way from GA to CA. I spent about half-an-hour taking it apart looking for damage and/or lost parts and it was all there. Then contacted CPO. They replied the next morning and were very helpful. I decided to do the full set up and adjustments and ran a couple of test boards. I found that one of the blades had a slight chip in it. CPO credited me the cost of new blades and I was off to work.

Getting the infeed and outfeed tables level was a bit of a pain and took about an hour. This might have been from the abuse the machine took in transit or it may not. The bolt-lock nuts are difficult to keep in place during tightening, but with a bit of persistance the snipe was very minimal when feeding a board by itself. Using a sacrificial piece of wood fed through first and at the end of a board, the snipe was near nothing.

Changing the blades was easy and took about 1/2 hour to turn all of them around to avoid the chip.

The first day we ran two passes of 700 LF of redwood 2x6 through it taking 1/32" on each pass and it planed like a champ from beginning to end.

I'm definately pleased with this purchase but only time will tell how it lasts.

Comments about 15 Amp 13 in. Bench Planer with 3-Blade Cutterhead:

I've been wanting a big planer for a long time, but I wasn't willing to pay the big bucks for the newer ones on the market. I have a 3 inch hand planner, but it doesn't cut the mustard when doing a something larger than the edges of a door or 2"x4". I came across CPO for a rebuilt planner and WAMMOOOOO, they had exactly what I was looking for and the price was within by budget. I already own Ridgid lifetime drills/batteries, so I know I was getting a great tool. I had some 2"x6" boards that were rough cut, and I wanted to build a flat work bench top. This planner did a super great job on giving me a great finish and all boards were equal in height, therefore making the jointing process a snap. If you have a decent size shop vac, it work really well on keeping the wood fines down to about nothing. I recently purchased a biscuit joiner from CPO too, and I'm as happy as a honey bee in a flower shop. All shipments are sent UPS and arrive in ample time. If you want a good quality tool, I would check out CPO's inventory to see if they have what you want. then compare prices else where, and you'll find out what a good price you're getting. Thanks CPO, a least I still have a some spare bucks to take the wife out to dinner.

Comments about 15 Amp 13 in. Bench Planer with 3-Blade Cutterhead:

Ordered this to plane some rough-cut cedar that the hurricanes of 2004 took down. After having problems with one and another breaking in transit, I am very happy with this planer. It does a beautiful job amd the folks at CPO were great about the returns, S&H paid both ways and very quick replacement time.
