Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
I've been a professional remodeler for about 28 years, bought the Hitachi 8.5" slider about 19 years ago. It's paid for itself a few times over, replaced bearings etc.. It's been a good saw but time for a new one. Not too keen on the alian look of the new Hitachi and don't care to carry around a bulky 12" saw. After shopping around in big box stores and on line, it seemed that the Makita LS1016L was the right choice for me. I ordered a factory reco to save a hundred bucks and in my mind, I'm thinking the factory would take care of all the boo boos, but it turned out to be not the case. After reading reviews I new that I might have an issue or two such as the upper rails being too rough and stiff which was the case in my saw as well but was a quick fix by loosening the allen set screws sliding it back and forth a couple of times and tightening them back down while in the foward position. But there was a couple of issues that others did not list that I had with mine. One thing was the sliding lever on the right of the handle that supposed to lock the lower rails, didn't hold as tight as they should and I didn't see an adjustment. The other issue was when sliding from miter to miter, the miter lock plate would scrape on the miter scale plate in a couple spots, very annoying. I checked out the ones in three different Home Desperate stores([@]), none had these issues. I called Makita, they sent me a new lock plate and miter scale plate (free of charge). I swapped the parts out and unfotunatly the problem was not resolved. I contacted Tyler Tools, they e-mailed me a free return slip (outstanding behavior). For me it was't worth the hundred bucks I saved for the amount of time I had to F with it, but with that being said, otherwise the saw was everyhing I could hope for. I only had to tweek the fence ever so slightly. I would expect that with any saw and there were no issues on getting it where it needed to be. The upper rails I leave locked unless I'm cutting something over 10" wide (nice). It has a slower RPM than other saws in it's class but that doesn't seem to effect the quality of cuts and might even assist in it's super smooth starts and stops. The laser was spot on. Even though it is adjustable I didn't have to mess with it. It did come with a real nice 60 tooth blade. Over all, issues aside I'm very pleased with dealing with Makita and Tyler Tools (all pro and on the case) and guess what, I'm going to order a new version of the same saw with a stand. Seems like a good deal. If it comes without issues, I'll give it 5 stars. Crossing my fingers.

Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
I bought this saw for work around the house. It is definately a quality saw. The blade makes precise and clean cuts. The laser eliminates having to mark the wood. Just throw your tape over the piece and line up the laser with where you want to cut. The arm that locks in the piece you are cutting is a big bonus that I wasn't counting on.

I like the acurate laser, the 4 post slide really gives this saw a heavy duty feel, the motor runs so smooth and quite,i relly like this saw so far.The one thing i found out right away was the table angle locking notch at 0 is off by 1 degree, the fence does not look straight, if you hold a straight piece against the fence there is a very small gap on the right side.

Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
I had a regular miter saw and have outgrown it. I spent many months looking and reading about miter saws. I have read only good things about this saw.
I read that the many people said the laser line is precise. Beleive it or not, it really is. It is quiet, smooth, I could go on, but I love it, just feels good. I should never have to buy another miter saw again.
Also, the makita workplace stand is incredible.

Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
I am a hobbyist, not a pro, so it was not easy for me to justify spending this much on a sliding miter saw but now that I've used it I'm glad I spent the money. I have owned one miter saw previously, a $200 bargain saw that left a lot to be desired. The LS1016 is a pleasure to use, accurate right out of the box, smooth and powerful, yet quiet. If I really had to find a fault I would say the upper sliders are less smooth than the lowers, a bit of a "ratchety" feel, but nothing to quibble about. I would have no reservations about doing business with Makita CPO again, overall one of my best tool buys yet.

Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
Was looking at the factory refurbished version of this saw, but the extra 10% off plus free shipping made the new saw too good to pass up. This is a great saw, always came out on top when tested against the competition and after using it I see why. Have bought other refurbished tools from CPO and never been diappointed so if new is not in your budget then buy the refurbished model. Either way you will be happy with this saw.

This was a refurbished model, and if I look closely, I can tell that it was used slightly. Everything works fine though. The only thing was the web site indicated that it did not come with a blade, so I bought one separately, but it DID come with one, so now I have two!

Comments about Factory Reconditioned Makita LS1016L-R 10-in Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser:
After a few months of reading reviews, I decided to pull the trigger on the LS1016. I was aware of a few potential issues with this particular saw - sticky upper rails, excessive runout, a fence that won't easily square up to the blade. Still, it seemed that people who got a saw without one of these issues loved the machine.
I'd had good luck with reconditioned tools in the past, and this was no exception. Upon unboxing, the saw appeared to be in new condition - no scuffs, scratches, etc.
One note: this saw comes with the A-93675 60t blade. For some reason, this isn't listed as one of the "includes" on the reconditioned saw, but it was in the box, packaged snugly under the saw.
Out of the box, my fence needed an adjustment to bring it to a 90 degree angle with the blade. This was easy to do, although as others have stated, the fence seems to be pretty much at its adjustment limits when properly squared.
The upper rails on my saw were quite sticky. Even after reading numerous accounts of this on forums and reviews, I was unprepared for the jarring sensation of transitioning from the lower rails to the upper when sliding the saw through its full range of horizontal movement. HOWEVER, this problem seems to be quickly remedying itself. Even after just a few dozen cuts, the action of the upper rails is vastly improved, almost to the degree where I no longer notice it while moving the blade through a cut. I'm confident that it will soon be a non-issue altogether.
My saw has no, or at least very little, runout. I brought the blade about 3/4s of the way down through a 3" thick slab of oak, lifted it out, stopped the motor, and slipped the blade back down into the cut. The blade fit snugly with no noticeable gap at either side. I haven't checked the side to side with a dial indicator, but for my needs, it's plenty precise.
Also, my laser is dead on, which I wasn't really anticipating. I've read reviews that stated that the laser will get you close, but you need to bring the blade to your pencil mark for a final adjustment. I don't find that to be the case with my saw. My blade cuts just to the right of the laser line. And I mean JUST. Even on angled cuts, it's amazingly accurate.
My one gripe with this saw is the vertical vise. I find that when I need it, mostly on small pieces, it doesn't reach. There are only 4 placement holes cast into the base of the saw, and they're out toward the edges. I've read that the 1013 had more, but I dunno. Anyway, it's not a deal breaker.
So yeah, great saw. I think you should probably buy it.
