Q:What is the warranty on the generac gp5500?
A:GENERAC POWER SYSTEMS “ONE YEAR” LIMITED WARRANTY FOR RECONDITIONED PORTABLE GENERATORS
A:Recondition units carry a one year warranty and new units carry a two year warranty.
Q:Is it a big deal that the unit isn't csa approved? What does it mean that it's not carb approved?
A:This generator is not CARB compliant. CARB stands for; California Air Resources Board. California has higher standards on emissions that the rest of the country. If you do not live in California, you can use this generator.
Q:Being that I never owned a generator before, and with the crazy weather that we have, I would like to know where I can put this generator during power outages, outside? and if this could run a small portable heater due to the fact that I have small animals that cannot be cold. Thank you
A:When ANY generator is running, be it with gasoline, propane, or natural gas, the generator must be placed outdoors and should be at least 10 feet away from any doors or windows in the home or building, to avoid exhaust fumes from possibly entering the home or building. The generator may be placed under a carport or other covered structure with open sides. NEVER EVER operate a generator inside a garage, house, cellar or any enclosed area, even with the doors open.
A:This and any other generator must and should be run outdoors at all times.
