Comments about 12-1/2 in. Thickness Planer:

Amazing accuracy on final cuts and they are repeatable. Final finish is super smooth. I replaced a similar priced planer that was damaged in a fire and this machine amazed me with it's easy set up & operation.

Comments about 12-1/2 in. Thickness Planer:

I've only used this planer for several hours to plane down 2" thick cedar stock. The planer performed incredibly well. It is adequately portable, much more so than its pricier big brother. If I didn't have such a small shop and require potability then I probably would have bought up one model, but I am pleasantly surprised by this planer. My next investment will be a dust collection system because this thing can really create some sawdust, but it makes great mulch for landscaping. This planer is solid, and I mean solid. One feature I really like is the manual carriage locking mechanism, which is rock solid and lets you know that it is locked instead of just guessing and hoping the system locks itself. Sometimes automatic just means something expensive to replace if it breaks. This planer has plenty of power. If you are wondering about snipe, from what I planed down I only had one piece that even had any snipe and it was on a board that was twisted and I didn't help support it when it came through the out feed, as it reached well beyond the out feed table. I am very happy with this planer and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a portable planer with high quality results.

Comments about 12-1/2 in. Thickness Planer:

I have 10, 8ft x 6in x 1in red Oak boards that I purchased many years ago from a saw mill. They were rough cut, so I couldn't really use them for any nice project. My wife bought me the DeWalt DW734 as a birthday gift. I have planed all the boards and made a couple tool chests. The planer worked great, and the Oak looks beautiful! The cost of Oak is approx. $7.00/ft. So, the DW734 has paid for itself already.
